February 2018 - Josh Brill Birds

2 nd -3 rd  Grade Project Title:   Josh Brill Birds Samples of Josh Brill's art: Peregrine Falcon   Blue Jay Description: Josh Brill lives in Portland Maine and likes to hike in Acadia National park.  He enjoys nature and often makes cut collage pictures of the birds he sees.  Our artists chose a bird to draw and cut out using construction paper puzzle pieces which needed to be carefully assembled.  Students learned that beaks and feet can reveal what the bird eats and where the bird might live. January 2018 - Form and Value

2 nd -3 rd  Grade Project Title:   Form and Value Description: Important elements of art that help create the illusion of 3-dimensions are form and value.  Students developed a value chart using ebony pencils.  Next they experimented with constructing four forms of their choice.  Their favorite form was chosen next, and appropriate values were placed carefully within this form with attention to the light source.
