Description: An important principle of design is balance.  2nd and 3rd grade students practiced creating both balanced and unbalanced compositions using geometric and freeform shapes.  They also laid out and labeled their final work for presentation. October 2017 - Georgia O'Keeffe Leaves

2 nd -3 rd  Grade Project Title:   Georgia O'Keeffe Leaves Samples of Georgia O'Keeffe's art: Grey and Brown Leaves (1929) Two Yellow Leaves (1928) Description: Georgia O'Keeffe (November 15, 1887 – March 6, 1986) was an American artist who painted enlarged flowers, bones, leaves and shells so people would notice them.  Student artists looked closely at fall leaves and drew a magnified version of their leaf.  Special attention was given to its outside contour line, interior veins and texture, watercolor markers were added on diffusion paper to create this tie dyed look.
