April 2018 - Landscapes

2 nd -3 rd  Grade Project Title:   Landscapes Description: 2nd and 3rd grade artists thought of a memory that involved a landscape.  The paper was divided into a foreground, middle ground, and a background.  Next, students color-mixed orange for the sky, purple for the mountains and green for the foreground.  A preliminary sketch helped students to lay out details, with a focus on perspective tricks.  Colored pencils were used to add our final details. March 2018 - Hot/Cold Colored Non-Objective Art

2 nd -3 rd  Grade Project Title:   Hot/Cold Colored Non-Objective Art Description: Non-objective art tends to be geometric and does not represent specific objects, people or subjects.  Students taped their canvas into 6 or more sections.  Using a palette of either hot or cold colors, artists practiced color mixing to fill each section.  Once dry, the tape was carefully removed resulting in colorful abstract art.
