2nd-3rd Grade

Project Title: Landscapes
Description:
  • 2nd and 3rd grade artists thought of a memory that involved a landscape.  The paper was divided into a foreground, middle ground, and a background.  Next, students color-mixed orange for the sky, purple for the mountains and green for the foreground.  A preliminary sketch helped students to lay out details, with a focus on perspective tricks.  Colored pencils were used to add our final details.

2 nd -3 rd  Grade Project Title:   Balanced or Unbalanced Compositions? Description: An important principle of design is balance.  2nd and 3rd grade students practiced creating both balanced and unbalanced compositions using geometric and freeform shapes.  They also laid out and labeled their final work for presentation. February 2018 - Josh Brill Birds

2 nd -3 rd  Grade Project Title:   Josh Brill Birds Samples of Josh Brill's art: Peregrine Falcon   Blue Jay Description: Josh Brill lives in Portland Maine and likes to hike in Acadia National park.  He enjoys nature and often makes cut collage pictures of the birds he sees.  Our artists chose a bird to draw and cut out using construction paper puzzle pieces which needed to be carefully assembled.  Students learned that beaks and feet can reveal what the bird eats and where the bird might live.
